HomeMy Public PortalAbout20120221minutesMinutes Animal Shelter Advisory Committee Meeting Tuesday, February 21, 2012 Members Present: Dr. Gregory Popp, Chairman Dr. Jim Crago, Vice Chair Dr. Greg Boyer, Committee Member Others Present: Karen Jennings, Staff Captain Bob Cynova, Staff Dr. Amanda Dykstra, Staff Lilly Sandberg, Veterinary Student, Guest The Animal Shelter Committee met for a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 21,2012, at 12:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at Waste Water Collections, 2320 Hyde Park Road, Jefferson City Missouri. The meeting was called to order by Dr. Popp, Chairman. Roll call was taken. Approval of Minutes from the October 27, 2010 Meeting The minutes of the October 27, 2010 meeting were reviewed and Dr. Crago moved they be approved. Dr. Boyer seconded and the minutes were approved. Staff Reports Karen Jennings, Animal Control Supervisor, reported on the yearly numbers at the animal shelter. When an animal comes to a local clinic, we would like the clinic to call the shelter to see if any lost reports are on file. The Brenna’s Best Friend Fund has been fairly successful. From November through January, there was 5,20, and 18 turned into billing. Review Written Correspondence No correspondence was received. Old Business There was no old business. New Business 1. An ordinance for exotic animals was discussed and asked to be written. 2. The ordinance on the maximum number of animals was discussed. It was asked to be rewritten to address the animals on the property not just in the residence 3. Utilizing the Pit Rescues was discussed and Dr. Dykstra was asked to write a proposal. 4. The opening of the new animal shelter was discussed. An Open House is planned for June 3, 2012. The ventilation system, cages, plumbing, and flooring were discussed. Approval of Next Meeting Date Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 12:30 was set as the next Committee meeting.
