Animal Shelter Advisory Committee Meeting
Monday July 15, 2013
Members Present:
Dr. Gregory Popp, Chairman
Dr. Jim Crago, Vice Chair
Dr. Greg Boyer, Committee Member

Dr. Corey McCann, Relief Veterinarian
Lt. Randy Dampf, Interim Support Services Commander
Drew Hilpert, City Counselor
The Animal Shelter Committee met for a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 12:30
p.m. in the Large Conference Room, John G. Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty, Jefferson City
Missouri. The meeting was called to order by Dr. Popp, Chairman. Roll call was taken.
Staff Reports
Dr. Corey McCann was introduced as the Interim Veterinarian for the Jefferson City Animal Shelter.
Karen Jennings reported the floor was completed and doing much better than the previous product.
She reported the shelter saw over 1800 people in June. The monthly numbers of animals at the shelter
was discussed and Dr. Popp commented positively on the dog numbers. Dr. McCann talked about the
Calici virus and the DEA License is now active at the shelter.
Review Written Correspondence
No correspondence was received.
Old Business
Approval of Minutes from the August 21, 2013 Meeting
The minutes of the August 21, 2013 meeting were reviewed and Dr. Crago moved they be approved. Dr.
Boyer seconded and the minutes were approved.
New Business
1. The board asked for a copy of the volunteer manual.
2. The exotic ordinance is being addressed by Jeremy Cover.
3. Discussed meeting quarterly even if there was no new items on the agenda.
4. Annual Report to the City Council needs to be presented. Dr. Crago was nominated.
5. The Gas Chamber was discussed and Dr. Crago said it was safe, effective, and humane. Dr. Popp
agreed. Dr. Crago said death is never pleasant but it was safe for wild and feral animals.
6. Drew Hilpert was going to contact HR for a liaison from the City Council.
Approval of Next Meeting Date
Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 12:30 was set as the next Committee meeting.
Adjournment
With no further business the meeting adjourned at 12:47 p.m.
