HomeMy Public PortalAbout20140317minutesMEETING MINUTES City of Jefferson Cultural Arts Commission Special Meeting Monday, March 17, 2014 Panera Bread, 2226 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, Missouri The meeting was called to order at 5:20 p.m. by Chairperson, Lucia Kincheloe. Members Present: Debbie Brunner, Don Govang, Lucia Kincheloe, Cindy Layton, Luann Madsen, Susannah Sodergren. Cindy moved and Luann seconded approval of the agenda as published. Motion carried on a voice vote. Lucia lead a group discussion on the exigencies and contingencies inherent with conducting the” Wine and Design Event” and/or the” Scoop N’ it Up for Art! Ice Cream Festival.” Work already done, materials already in possession, people already contacted, as well as remaining challenges; for both projects, were discussed. Luann moved and Susannah seconded that this year the commission conduct only one event of the two. The motion carried on a unanimous voice vote. Further deliberation about the comparative merits of each project for this year ensued, based on a cost-benefit-analysis provided group consideration of the two projects. There was a group consensus that, although each project has independent worth, the labor involved might necessitate consideration of facilitating them on alternate years. Another, more optimistic, thought involved supporting one project minimally, while supporting the other completely. A Roll Call vote was taken to determine which project would be completed this year. The Wine and Design Event was chosen on a 4-2 vote. After further discussion of venues Luann moved and Susannah seconded that Villages and Brew House be made the host site. The motion carried on a unanimous voice vote. Tentative date of September 12 was named. Meeting was adjourned at 6:59 p.m. Submitted by, Don Govang
