HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-13-2017 COW Minutes '/a7 lav/7 Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Workshop of the President and the Board of Trustees Held on February 13,2017 At Village Hall Trustee Bonuchi called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Board Present: Trustee Peck, Trustee Ruane, Trustee Wojowski, Trustee Bonuchi, Trustee Lamb, and Trustee O'Rourke. Board absent: Mayor Collins. Others present: Brian Murphy,Administrator; Michelle Gibas, Village Clerk;Allen Persons, Public Works Director; Jon Proulx, Planning Director; Ken Goska Building Official; and John Konopek, Chief of Police. There were approximately 4 persons in the audience. Trustee Lamb moved to appoint Trustee Bonuchi as this evening's chair. Second by Trustee O'Rourke. Vote by roll call. Peck, yes; Ruane, yes; Wojowski, yes; Bonuchi, yes; Lamb,yes; O'Rourke, yes. 6 yes, 0 no. Motion carried. Trustee Lamb moved to approve the Minutes of the Special Committee of the Whole Workshop held on January 30, 2017. Second by Trustee Peck. Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 opposed. Motion carried. PRESIDENTIAL COMMENTS Trustee Bonuchi asked the local businesses to take a look around their buildings and help clean up any garbage. TRUSTEE COMMENTS Trustee O'Rourke expressed interest in a formal procedure for adding agenda items and asked if any of the Trustees were interested in placing agenda items as a future topic at one of the Committee of the Whole Meetings. There was some general discussion and no consensus to add this topic to a future meeting. Administrator Murphy stated that he would do some research to see if other communities had a formal process. Trustee Peck asked for an update the group homes located in the Village. Mr. Proulx stated that the homes have integrated well and that he has not received any complaints. PUBLIC COMMENTS Mr. Frank Matthews stated the he is an ADA advocate and expressed concern regarding statements made by the public during public meetings. WORKSHOP #1 COMMUNITY FOUNDATIONS Mr. Michael Trench, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Will County, stated that their mission is to promote philanthropy, connect donors to community needs, and build partnerships to improve the quality of life in our region. Mr. Trench also reviewed the background on history and purpose of community foundations; the story of their formation in Will County; links to the Village of Plainfield; and a vision for the Plainfield Community Fund. Mr. Trench pointed out that the goal is to work with the community's existing foundations. Mr. Trench stated that the Community Foundation of Will County will be hosting a meeting at the Village Hall on March 21 at 8:30 a.m. Trustee Bonuchi thanked Mr. Trench for the presentation and read the reminders.
