GREENCASTLE BOARD OF WORKS
EXECUTIVE SESSION
MONDAY, DECEMBER 30, 1996 3:00 P.M. CITY HALL
The Greencastle Board of Works met in Executive Session Monday, December 30, 1996, 3:00
p.m. at City Hall. Mayor Michael called the meeting to order. On the Roll Call, the following
Board Members were found to be present: Sue Murray and George Murphey.
The purpose of this meeting is to interview candidates for two opening in the Fire Department.
Fire Chief O'Hair introduced Jeff Elkins as the first candidate. Mr. Elkins has been a reserve
with the City of Greencastle Fire Department for three years, he has finished his mandatory 24
hours of training and is just short of his second class status which he intends to finish. Mr.
Elkins is currently employed at Bemis in Terre Haute and understands that the starting pay is
10 $21,327.00 annually and he will be on probation for one year. Questions were asked by each
board member. Mr. Elkins has already had his physical by PERF and is awaiting results.
Fire Chief O'Hair introduced Mike Johnson. Mr. Johnson has a physical scheduled for January
9, 1997 with PERF. Mr. Johnson is currently employed at Wal -Mart Distribution, has been a
reserve with the City of Greencastle Fire Department for one year and a reserve with Madison
Township Fire Department for 2 years. Mr. Johnson has also served as a Sheriff Deputy Reserve
for three years and worked as a police officer in Cloverdale for a short period. Mr. Johnson
understands the pay to be 521,327.00 annually and he will be on probation for one year.
