The meeting was called to order at 6:34 p.m.; minutes from the June meeting were approved. Street Tree Plan Review Parks & Recreation staff distributed existing tree planting list and a draft (recommended) Downtown Beautification Street Tree Planting List for the Downtown area. It was reviewed and discussed with some modifications suggested to the draft plan. The revised listing was unanimously approved by the Commission. There was also discussion about the pros and cons of promoting a mono-culture in the tree plan. It was suggested that perhaps a dominant tree species could be adopted with other complimentary secondary trees being introduced to provide variety and interest. The Parks and Recreation staff were requested to bring a modified street tree plan to the next meeting. Recycling Update - Chairman Crabtree updated the Commission about progress with the quote for single stream recycling services. The Council has withdrawn its request for a quote and has engaged a consultant to put together an RFP for solid waste services that includes single stream recycling. The timeframe to implement the new service is 18-24 months. Other Business Chairman Crabtree announced that the Chamber has requested participants for a Green Workplace Seminar during the Business Showcase in October. Kristin Hilty and Carol Davit volunteered to participate on a panel with Jim Crabtree. Carol Davit expressed concern about the billing by Missouri American Water that basically charged by cubic foot benchmarks rather than per gallon. This practice discourages water conservation. Meeting adjourned 7:30 p.m. Next meeting will be September 18th at 6:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted,
