Meeting Minutes
Thursday – September 17, 2009
Present: Jim Crabtree-Chairman, Kristen Hilty, Marty Miller, Pam Barkhaus,
Jim Penfold-Council Liaison; Staff: Melva Fast, Janice McMillan.
Called to order at 6:40 p.m.; roll call- a quorum was present.
Electronic Sign Ordinance
Janice McMillan indicated that the current sign ordinance does not regulate
electronic sign messages, ie time between message changes. After discussion
it was agreed that size and light emission should be regulated not frequency of
message. A fully formed ordinance that addresses light and size was requested
for the next meeting.
Cole County Partnership for Clean Air
The Clean Air presentation from the August meeting was reviewed. It was
agreed to defer further discussion on this issue for at least a year due to the
Commission’s ongoing work with the recycling issue. No action was taken at
the meeting.
Next meeting will be the October 22.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
