HomeMy Public PortalAboutRES 04/04RESOLUTION 004 -04 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA, REQUESTING A PORTION OF THE COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE GRANT AWARD PROGRAM FUNDS FOR 2004 -2005 FOR THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the City of Delray Beach Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department represents the Emergency Medical Service interest of the Town of Gulf Stream through an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Delray Beach and the Town of Gulf Stream; and, WHEREAS, the Town of Gulf Stream, pursuant to the Constitution and laws of the State of Florida, has the authority to exercise all powers for municipal government purposes; and WHEREAS, the City of Delray Beach Fire Department is requesting grant funding to purchase an ALS equipment package consisting of one (1) Zoll M Series Defibrillator Monitor with Extreme case; one (1) NovaMetrix Tidal Wave Capnography /Oximeter; one (1) MTP Miniature Infusion Pump 1001 with case; one (1) Auto Vent 3000 2.0 patient ventilator, to upgrade the Fire Supression Unit from Basic Life Support capability to an Advanced Life Support equipped unit; and, WHEREAS, The City of Delray Beach Fire Department is eligible to receive funds collected by the Emergency Medical Services Office, pursuant to Florida Statutes, Chapter 401.113; and, WHEREAS, these funds are to be used to expand and improve the City's level of emergency medical care to our citizens and those of Delray Beach and will enhance the emergency medical service operation; and, WHEREAS, these funds are to be spent on equipment or services not budgeted through the City of Delray Beach and would be unavailable otherwise. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida, respectfully requests that approval of the application submitted by the City of Delray Beach for funding from the Palm Beach County Emergency Medical Services Grant Award Program for 2003 -2004 be granted. Moreland, Division Chief /kW4 DATE: April 22, 2004 SUBJECT: Information Requested for Inclusion in Resolution As per our request of last year, the City of Delray Beach is again in need of a Resolution from the Town of Gulf Stream relative to the Palm Beach County EMS Grant funding. We are requesting the following information be included in the resolution: Naming the Delray Beach Fire Department to utilize the Town of Gulf Stream portion of the Palm Beach County Emergency Medical Services Funds for Fiscal Year 2003 — 2004 for the purpose of improving the EMS delivery system in Delray Beach and Gulf Stream. Delray Beach is making application for the following items under this grant program. An ALS equipment package that will be used to upgrade the Fire Suppression Unit in the southern response zone of Delray Beach from Basic Life Support capability (BLS) to an Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipped unit. This will enhance the EMS capability and delivery to residents and visitors within the Fire - Rescue Department's entire service area. The package includes one (1) Zoll M Series Defibrillator Monitor with Extreme case. One (1) NovaMetrix Tidal Wave Capnography / Oximeter, one (1) MTP Miniature Infusion Pump 1001 with case and one (1) Auto Vent 3000 2.0 patient ventilator.
