HomeMy Public PortalAboutRES 04/05RESOLUTION NO. 004 -05 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AGREEING WITH MINIMUM FIRE - RESCUE LEVEL OF SERVICE STANDARDS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, representatives of Palm Beach County (the "County ") and the municipalities within the County (the "Cities ") have engaged in extensive discussions regarding the implementation of countywide minimum fire - rescue level of service standards; and WHEREAS, the provision of fire - rescue and emergency medical services is a fundamental governmental function that directly affects the health, safety and welfare of all residents and visitors of the County and the Cities, including the Town of Gulf Stream; and WHEREAS, as a result of the aforementioned discussions, representative of the County and the Cities have met, conferred and established criteria for a minimum level of fire - rescue service; and WHEREAS, the County and the Cities desire to voluntarily implement a countywide minimum level of service for all fire - rescue providers; and WHEREAS, the aforesaid countywide minimum fire - rescue level of service standards include a five (5) year implementation plan with the first three (3) years being a voluntary compliance program; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the aforesaid countywide minimum fire - rescue level of service standards, the progress and status of implementing level of service standards would be coordinated through the Fire - Rescue Level of Service Committee which is comprised of both County and City representatives as set forth in the countywide minimum fire - rescue level of service standards; and WHEREAS, the Town of Gulf Stream is currently a party to an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Delray Beach for the provision of fire - rescue and emergency medical services dated October 1, 1999 to extend until September 30, 2009; and WHEREAS, based upon the above referenced Interlocal Agreement, the Town of Gulf Stream believes that it is currently in compliance with the countywide minimum fire - rescue level of service standards. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Town of Gulf Stream is in compliance with the minimum level of service standards set forth in Exhibit "A" attached to this Resolution and made a part hereof which shall not be modified without the consent of the Town. This compliance shall be met as a result of the aforementioned Interlocal Agreement between the Town of Gulf Stream and the City of Delray Beach for the provision of fire - rescue and emergency medical services. SECTION 2. The effective date of this Resolution shall be immediately upon its passage by the Town of Gulf Stream.
