a) Request for no parking on Nelson Drive.
(Requestor: Shalon Schonhardt).
A brief overview of the area was given by staff member, Britt Smith. Nelson Drive is an
established neighborhood; however, as proceeding upward on Nelson Drive (from Elm Street),
newer construction of residential subdivisions have been developed. The street is of 28 feet wide
with face—to-face curb, mostly single residence with driveways on both sides and moderate
parking available on street. (Please note : this request was received by our office, during the
middle of the back-to-back snow storms which accumulated approximately 12-14 inches within
a five day period). The requestor is not a resident from Nelson Drive, but lives in the area.
Six individuals were present, and were given the opportunity to speak all in which were
opposed. After a brief discussion between staff and commission members, Mrs. Deetz motioned
to request for no parking on Nelson Drive, seconded by Mr. Washburn. All commission
members opposed, motion fails.
b) Request to remove parking from the north and east side of Gray Fox Terrace.
(Requestor. Staff).
Britt explained to the commission members, this agenda items was brought forth by a city
employee, whom works for Department of Public Works, Street Division. It has been expressed;
this street has a severe challenge when snow removal is required with the amount of vehicles
parked on the street. Gray Fox Terrace is a 32 feet with face-to-face curb, but appears to be
much narrow ending with a cud -a -sac. The multi -unit complex area with a high volume
parking requirements has challenged the street department to clear the streets of snow. Staff
recommends removal of parking on the north and east sides of the street.
Mr. Steve Wilkinson and Mr. Eric West, property owners, both present were given the
opportunity to speak, both in which opposed removal of parking. After a discussion, between
staff, commission members, and property owners, a verbal agreement was reached between
staff and property owners to work together to assist with snow removal and leave parking
unchanged. Mr. Kelly motioned to approve the removal of parking from the north and east
side of Gray Fox Terrace. All commission members opposed, motion fails.
