HomeMy Public PortalAbout20100811minutesUSS JEFFERSON CITY SUBMARINE COMMITTEE AUGUST 11, 2010 Call to Order; In attendance are George Bruss, Chairman, John O'Connell, Secretary, Melody Green, Marti Thruston, Mark Aulbur, Steve Schlueter, City Finance Director and Rich Koon, City Council Representative. Motion; Members were given a copy of the July 14, 2010 minutes for review and approval. After review without any changes or amendments Marti Thruston made a motion to accept the minutes and it was seconded by Melody Green. Discussion of Submarine Crew Visit; Melody Green provided everyone with a copy of the tentative schedule that she has been working on. She indicated that the visit will include eight(8) crew members. Among that group will be the new Commanding Officer, Curtis Duncan, who will be taking command on October 29, 2010, and the ships Yeoman. The other crew members attending have not yet been chosen by the Captain. Melody said that she was still working on getting a visit scheduled to the Unilever Plant on Friday afternoon. She suggested that when the Captain does his radio interview with Warren Krech on Friday morning that he plug the Saturday morning BBQ that will be held at the Schulte's parking lot. Also Melody was working on a possible meeting with the Governor during the visit to the Capitol on Monday morning. A check of the housing situation was discussed and volunteers were. Melody stated that she need to get a fairly firm Itinerary to the Captain so he could submit it for approval on his end which allows the Navy to pay part of the transportation cost. George Bruss, said that he has firmed up the dinner arrangements for Monday evening at Bone's restaurant and that he is working with Hal Dulle to finalize the BBQ arrangements for Saturday morning. Old Business; None. New Business; Melody asked Steve Schlueter if it was possible to send payment to the Captain for the airline tickets for the crew since he had found a cheaper price on Expedia web site. Steve indicated that there were several methods that could be used to allow the Captain to purchase the tickets and then to be repaid out of the trust fund. George Bruss suggested that we schedule another Committee meeting for next month and September 15th at 5:15 PM was agreed on. Adjournment; A motion to adjourn was made by Marti Thruston and seconded by Mark Aulbur. The motion passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned.
