HomeMy Public PortalAbout20140423minutesMEETING MINUTES City of Jefferson Cultural Arts Commission Wednesday, April 23, 2014 ~ 6:00 PM City Hall, 320 E. McCarty Street ~ Boone-Bancroft Conference Room Meeting called to order at 6:34 p.m. by Chairperson, Lucia Kincheloe. Members Present: Debbie Brunner, Cary Gampher, Don Govang, Tom Hartman, Lucia Kincheloe, Cindy Layton, Luann Madsen, Lara Underwood. Council Liaison: Councilman Mihalevich was not present. Staff Present: Janice McMillan Cindy moved and Lara seconded approval of the Agenda, as circulated. Motion carried on a voice-vote. Cindy moved and Debbie seconded approval of the February 26 minutes as distributed. Motion carried on a voice-vote. Lara moved and Luann seconded approval of the March 17 minutes as distributed. Motion carried on a voice-vote. The Commission reviewed the Notes from the March 26 meeting for any corrections. Lucia announced that there will be two openings on the Commission. Committee Reports: Public Art Committee: a—ART banner is going up next week. The mural will follow in a month. JJ Neff is done with the next mural. Location is still undetermined. Any ideas should be passed on to Cary. b—The Chess/checker table is near completion, c—The Round-about Sculpture should be ready by the end of June, according to Daniel Howeth. d—Saffee’s Walk- through project Was voted down by CVB Foundation Board for funding, Lucia is approaching the Downtown Merchants’ Association. The American Cancer Association people are enthusiastic about the commemorative tiles idea. e—The Lions Club is still considering the mosaic project for possible support. f—The school bus will be moved tomorrow. This will avert the problem for now, as ideas are percolated. Marketing Committee: The web site might need to move to a new domain. Debbie will investigate. The same situation exists for Facebook. Fundraising Committee: Lucia distributed a list of committed and possible artist and committed and possible sponsors for the Wine Event. The Commissioners reviewed the lists for contacting. Further volunteer food sponsor(s) will be needed. The date will most likely be on September 12. Lucia encouraged commissioners to find sponsors. She will send the sponsorship letter to us via e-mail. Motion carried by a voice-vote, without dissent. The next meeting will take place on May 28 at 6:30 p.m. Cindy moved and Luann seconded a call for adjournment, which was approved by voice-vote.
