McCarty Street ~ Boone-Bancroft Conference Room Meeting called to order at 6:01 p.m. by Chairperson, Lucia Kincheloe Present: Debbie Brunner, Cary Gampher, Don Govang, Deirdre (DK) Hirner, Lucia Kincheloe, Cindy Layton, Luann Madsen, Janice McMillian, Emilee Mudd, Lara Underwood. Cindy moved and Cary seconded approval of the agenda. Motion carried on a voice-vote. Cindy moved and DK seconded approval of the May minutes. Motion carried on a voice-vote. New Commissioners, DK Hirner and Emilee Mudd, introduced themselves to the commission. Committee Reports: Public Art Committee—a) BC Signs (for $600) put the ART banner up and will take it down when the mural goes up. The paper will be present for the mural hanging. B) The Saffee’s walk-through project has the possibility of backing by Cancer organizations. Lucia showed samples of tiles and described the basic idea for the “Fountain of Hopes.” C) Tim Divine is near completion on his table. Jill Snodgrass came to thank the Commission for the mini-grant support and updated us on the progress of First Fridays Art Strolls. Twenty-seven artist/ participants were at the first event, with an additional ten already signed on for the next. D) Weather permitting, Daniel Howeth is on his last pouring for the sculpture. He is still projecting a late June or July completion. A rough time line for art installations was drawn on the white board. Date(approx.) 5/15 6/15 6/16 7/16 7/17 8/18 8/19 9/19 Installment ART! Bike Mural ART! (Neff) JJ Neff mural ART! (Chess table) Chess Table ART! (Round- About) Sculpture F) Broadway Shell moved the bus to Capital Sand Workshop. The Linn State Tech people can work on it this fall. Lucia will further seek Janice’s council and advice on the logistics of the project. G) The possibility of a book-themed sculpture at the Leslie/Stadium Roundabout was discussed. H) Dennis Holiday approached Lucia about the possibility of a downtown mural showing the historic progression of downtown Jefferson City. An artist’s rendering of the project was viewed and locations were initially considered. Fundraising Committee—Luann updated the commission on the Wine Event. Twenty-two or twenty- three artists are confirmed for tables. Food contributors are still being sought. Seven wineries are committed, so far. Lucia will speak with the banks, and it is hoped that each commissioner will find two sponsors. Marketing Committee—Emilee is meeting with Debbie about the Web site. Debbie found a host for the JCARTS.COM Site for $35 per annum. DK moved and Cary seconded the authorization of $35 per year for the web site. The motion carried on a voice-vote, without dissention. Discussion about the November meeting yielded a potential November 19 date, with no meeting in December. The June 25 and July 23 meetings will begin at 6:00p.m. Luann moved and Cary seconded adjournment. Upon voice-vote approval, Lucia adjourned the meeting at 7:54 p.m. Submitted by Don Govang
