Dear Mayor Counihan:

ERNEST C. HOSTI
JOHN C. WYLLY. JR.
I respectfully submit the resignation of the law firm of Smith and Portman
as City Attorneys for the City of Savannah Beach, effective Friday, August
30th, 1974.
I feel that this would be a desirable time for such action since the Erosion
Control Project is beyond the critical point. I would like to express my
appreciation to the Mayor and Council along with all parties who have been
involved in this project. The Erosion Control Project in my estimation is
the single, most important project in the history of the City of Savannah
Beach.
I would further respectfully advise Council that it is the desire of this
law firm to cooperate fully with the new law firm that will represent the City.
I further respectfully request that City Council officially acknowledge that
the City of Savannah Beach is indebted to this law firm in the amount of
$20,457.52, the same to be accomplished through a resolution adopted in
Open Council.
In conclusion, may I send this firm's best wishes on the satisfactory comple-
tion of the Erosion Control Project and for the City Government in general.
With kindest regards, I am,
Very truly yours,
SMITH & PORTMAN,
Lance with,
