AUTHORIZING A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT -
ROBERT J. BERGEN, ESQ.
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret ("Borough") is in need of general
professional legal services as a result of certain litigation matters, including
Caldwell v. Borough of Carteret and certain tax appeal litigation; and
WHEREAS, Robert J. Bergen, Esq. of the law firm Gill & Chamas, LLC, P.O.
Box 760, 655 Florida Grove Road, Woodbridge, NJ, possesses the requisite
experience and expertise to provide said legal services; and
WHEREAS, Robert J. Bergen, Esq. has proposed to perform said services at an
hourly rate set pursuant to the existing contract with the Borough at a maximum
cost not to exceed $9,500.00; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer has certified that funds are available for
the same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey as follows:
1. That the appropriate Borough officials are hereby
authorized to enter into a professional services contract with
Robert J. Bergen, Esq. of the law firm Gill 8,: Chamas, LLC to
perform general legal services at a maximum cost not to exceed
$9500.00.
2. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Borough
Purchasing Department and Robert J. Bergen, Esq~
3. This award is made as a professional services contract
pursuant to N.J.S.A 40A:l 1-5(1)(a).
