AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A STREET TREE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND
WHEREAS, the Common Council has determined that the present City ordinances
governing the planting, care, maintenance, and liability of street
trees should be redrafted in light of current circumstances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Wayne County, Indiana that:
1. There is established a Commission, to be known as the Street Tree
Commission for the City of Richmond, Indiana.
2. There shall be six members appointed to the Street Tree Commission,
three of which are to be appointed by the Mayor and the remaining three
to be appointed by the Common Council.
3. The initial term of appointment for each street tree commission
member shall be for a period of one ( 1) year.
4. During the first year of the Commission's existence, the
Commission shall meet at the pleasure of its membership for the
purpose of considering and developing rules and regulations governing
the placement, planting, care, maintenance, removal and liability for
street trees in the City of Richmond.
5. At such time as the Street Tree Commission determines, the
Commission shall forward its findings and recommendations to the Mayor
and the Common Council for incorporation and implementation into the
City Code.
