Home My Public Portal About19750306SCMeetingSavannah Beach, Georgia March 6, 1975 A Special Called Meeting of Savannah Beach City Council was held this evening at 6:00 P.M. for the purpose of adopting a Resolution awarding the contract for the construction of a Sewer Interceptor System and Sanitary Sewers in the City of Savannah Beach (Project C 130353 -02 -0) to the low bidder who was Griffin Construction Company of Macon, Georgia; also to authorize the Mayor to execute the E.P.A. Form 5780 -Part B- PROJECT COST SUMMARY. The meeting was presided and a quorum consisting of the Richard DeLoach, Edward Fahey, Wylly and Ernest Hosti. City also present. 25 over by Mayor Michael J. Counihan following councilmen was present: Joseph Agnew, James Bond, John Attorney William H. Pinson was The meeting was opened by the Mayor who then asked the Clerk to read the purpose for which the meeting was called. The Clerk then read the following Resolution awarding the contract for the construction of a Sewer Interceptor System and Sanitary Sewers in the City of Savannah Beach, known as Projcet C 130353 -02 -0, to the low bidder, Griffin Construction Company of Macon, Georgia: RESOLUTION Following the reading of the Resolution, Councilman Bond moved its adoption. This motion was seconded by Councilman Agnew and unanimously carried. A motion was then made by Councilman Bond that the Mayor be authorized to execute a E.P.A. Form 5780, Part B, Project cost Summary, for forwarding to the Environmental Protection Agency. This motion was seconded by Councilman Fahey and unani- mously carried. At the request of the Mayor, the Clerk read a letter from Thomas & Hutton Engineering firm recommending that the low bidder, Griffin Construction Company of Macon, Georgia, be awarded the contract. Also the following letter to the Environmental Pro- tection Agency signed by the Mayor listing the completed work in Grant C 130 353 01 and the costs incurred to date: LETTER 26 2 There being no further business, the meeting was aj- journed to the next regular or special called meeting. Clerk of Council 1 RESOLUTION WHEREAS: Bids were received on February 25, 1975, for the construction of a Sewer Interceptor System and Sanitary Sewers in Savannah Beach, Georgia known as Project C 130 353- 02-0. AND WHEREAS, the low bidder was Griffin Construction Company, Macon, Georgia, in the amount of $1,377,187.60 of which $909,027.50 is eligible for Grant Participation under PL 92 -500. AND WHEREAS, the Consulting Engineer, Thomas and Hutton Engineering Company has recommended the award to the low bidder, it is hereby resolved to award the work to Griffin Construction Company in the amount of $1,377,187.60 subject to the approval of the Environmental Protection Agency. Griffin Construction Company has constructed projects under our supervision while doing business as Tommy L. Griffin Plumbing and Heating Co. and we consider him competent to construct this work.
