Nine persons attended as follows: BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT (7) STAFF PRESENT (2) Ms. Kelly Dillon (Chair) Chief Roger Schroeder Ms. Lisa Turner (Secretary) Lt. Deric Heislen Mr. Rick Derks Mr. Curtis Creagh Mr. George Minze Mr. Chris Ricks Mr. Ray Bledsoe Following greetings, roll call was taken. Approval of May 1, 2014 minutes It was moved by Creagh and seconded by Minze that the minutes for the May 1 meeting be approved. The motion was carried unanimously. Old Business Police Personnel Board Vacancy Process – Applications for all city boards are available online. Once an application is received for the Police Personnel Board, it is reviewed to determine that the applicant does not have a conflict in serving the department. Once that determination has been made, the applications are reviewed by the Mayor who selects a candidate who is best suited to the position. The new Board member is announced at an upcoming city council meeting by the Mayor. Members of the Board expressed an interest in reviewing the applications in an effort to provide the Mayor with additional information to consider when making the determination to fill vacancies. Hiring Update – The last process for filling vacancies for communications and officers was a success. Chief Schroeder announced that there are currently two positions available for communications; one resignation was recently received in addition to a vacancy that has been left open due to the spending freeze. There are currently three vacancies for police officers of which we can fill two at this time. New Business Vacancy for Vice Chair for Personnel Board – Mr. Cline’s resignation from the board left this position available. It was moved by Chris Ricks and seconded by Kelly Dillon that Rick Derks fill this position. The motion was carried unanimously. Resignation of Board Member – Curtis Creagh announced his resignation from the Board. Mr. Creagh has provided valuable insight to the Board during his time of service. Members of the Board wished him well as he pursues career opportunities that will take him away of the Jefferson City area. Testing Dates for Communications – Testing for communications vacancies will be on July 30th, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. Police Officer Testing Dates - Testing for police officers will be August 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Other Business Appreciation Day- Mr. Derks distributed a list to the Board for calling on donations and signing up for duties. A flyer for this event will be available to the PD staff by the end of July. The event is set for lunch the day of September 17th, 2014. Next meeting date –The next meeting is August 6th, 2014. It was moved by Chris Ricks and seconded by Curtis Creagh for adjournment. No other business was discussed. The meeting was adjourned at 12:43 pm. Respectfully, Lisa Turner
