HomeMy Public PortalAbout2022.224 (07-11-22) RESOLUTION NO. 2022.224 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE STATEWIDE DIRECT PRIMARY ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 7, 2022, DECLARING THE RESULT AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW WHEREAS, a Consolidated Special Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Lynwood, California, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, as required by law; and WHEREAS, notice of the Special Election was given in time, form and manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established, that election officers were appointed and that in all respects the election was held and conducted and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in general law cities; and WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk canvassed the returns of election and has certified the results to this City Council, the results are received, attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A". NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the whole number of ballots cast in the City was 4,327; and Section 2. That the title of the measure voted for at the election was as follows: MEASURE R: Lynwood Governance Stabilization Shall the ordinance limiting the number of four-year terms that may be served by members of the Lynwood City Council be limited to three YES consecutive terms prospectively be adopted? NO Section 3. That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to the measure above named is listed in Exhibit "A" attached. 1 Section 4. The City Council does declare and determine that: Measure R — "Lynwood Governance Stabilization" was approved by 2,483 "yes" votes or 60.98%; and Section 5. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council of the City, a statement of the result of the election, showing: (1) The whole number of ballots cast in the City; (2) The number of votes given at each precinct for and against Measure R; and (3) The total number of votes given to Measure R. Section 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution and enter it into the book of original Resolutions.
