ORDINANCE APPROVING THE TRANSFER OF APPROXIMATELY 14.63 ACRES OF
LAND IN GREENCASTLE TO IVY TECH COMMUNITY COLLEGES OF INDIANA
WHEREAS, in 2007 the City of Greencastle deeded Lot I of the Rokicki Park
Subdivision to The Trustees of Ivy Tech Community Colleges of Indiana for the establishment of
a local comnumity college campus in Greencastle;
WHEREAS, Ivy Tech established a community college campus on the site and the
campus was open for the Fall 2009 semester;
WHEREAS, due to its immediate success Ivy Tech would like to expand the campus and
the programs offered in Greencastle;
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle retained and owns approximately 14.63 acres of
land in the Rokicki Park Subdivision (Lot 2) which it would like to transfer to Ivy Tech (see
attached legal description);
WHEREAS, Ivy Tech has offered to pay the City o1' Greencastle the appraised value of
Forty -Four Thousand dollars ($44,000.00) for the land;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED that the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle, pursuant to I.C. 36-1-11-8, does hereby approve transfer of the land described in
Attachment A, which is incorporated herein;
FURTHER BE IT ORDAINED that the sale is contingent upon the term "Rokicki
Park" being placed and remaining on all primary signage for the campus.
FURTHER BE IT ORDAINED, that the Common Council of the City of Greencastle
does hereby authorize and direct the Mayor to execute the deed and any other documents
necessary to transfer the property.
PASSED AND ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its regular
meeting this 'I day of y , 2010.
