HomeMy Public PortalAboutASAB Minutes 1993-04-20 Joint City Council and Animal Shelter Advisory Board Workshop 20 April 1993 The members of the Richland Hills City Council , the Mayor, City Manager, Animal Control Officer, Chief of Police, and members of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board met at the Richland Hills City Hall at 6:00 P.M. of Tuesday, April 20 , 1993 . Dr. William Kirksey, president of the board was unable to attend the meeting because of a last minute schedule conflict. The workshop began with a site visit of the present animal shelter. At the conclusion of the tour of the facility all persons returned to the city hall council chambers for a workshop. Council person Jerri Wright, Ann Tucker and Karen Spicer were present as members of the board. The results of the September, 1992 , inspection of the shelter were read and discussed. This inspection was made by Jan Buck, Zoonosis Control Specialist, Public Health Region 5, Texas Department of Health. Ann Tucker presented the Advisory Board's position that a new shelter was necessary, the an organized volunteer program could be established, that an adoption program should be convenient to the public, spay and neuter education needed to be disseminated and the animal leash laws enforced. A general discussion of various prototype plans and possible funds , grants and bond issues ensued. The mayor agreed that the council would take the matter under advisement and come back to the Advisory Board with a decision of which avenues to pursue. The meeting was then adjourned.
