HomeMy Public PortalAboutAnniversary Committee 09-23-1999 RICHLAND HILLS 50' ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE MEETING THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 1999 7:00 P.M. MINUTES 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: A. A meeting of the City of Richland Hills 50th Anniversary Committee was held Thursday, September 23, 1999, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 3200 Diana Drive. Paula Levi, Chairman, called the meeting to order. There were 5 members absent. B. Chairman Levi introduced Janice Crow, Community Relations liaison of the Ft. Worth Transportation Authority. C. Chairman Levi introduced Celesta Howell who will be chairman of the food for the 501 anniversary event. 2. Committee Reports: A. Betty Wilson reported that the City newsletter will be printing programs of our Anniversary celebrations. She stated that progress is being made in gathering information for the scrapbook and history of Richland Hills. B. Catherine Curington reported that the City Council has approved the date for the dance to be held at the Lutheran Church. C. Ruby Dillon reported that the logo contest should be in the next Richland Hills newsletter. D. Ramon Giles reported the measurement of the property to be used for the festival is being done. E. Gordon Slagle said that the area for the booths is being studied and plans for the street to be blocked are underway. F. Celesta Howell reported that June Mosley will help in the planning. Need to now how many food booths. G. Jo Don Hicks reported that plans to have music--Spanish, country western--are underway. Hector Garcia has a western band and the Richland High Spanish dancers will be considered. H. Jim McKnight reported that he has available stationary for correspondence. I. Anne Noyes reported that Councilman Pat Watkins complimented the committee for doing a good organizational job. J. Martha Strain reported that she has added Marsha Patton and Sue Ratcliff to the parade committee. The date for the parade will be September 16, 2000. Celebration will be held regardless of the rail service. K. Paula Levi called for a motion on the dates of certain events: Jim McKnight made the motion and it was seconded by Ramon Giles. Motion carried with one abstention. 1) Sept. 4--street dance 2) Sept. 9-10--Festival 3) Sept. 16--Grand Opening of the T and 50th Anniversary Parade. 3. Paula Levi announced next meeting will be held October 28. Meeting adjourned 8:00 p.m. Recording Secretary Betty Patterson 09-23-99
