REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MEDINA
MARCH 6,1962
Meeting called to order at 8 PM. All council members present.

February 6,1962 were read. Motion by Herb Arens to accept minutes as read, second
by Harold Winterhalter, motion carried. Mayor Scott outlined snow removal proceduee
as follows; Roads would by cleared for one way traffic, clear and wing back and open
roads as well as possible and then sand the icy spots.
The claim of Herb Gaspar for damaged garden was discussed, the opionion of Attorney
Hedlund was read, stating that the claim was valid as the weed inspector was acting
in his official capacity. Motion by Herb Arens to pay Gaspar $36.00 for damages
incurred through weed spraying provided he presents an itemized verified account,
Second by Harold Winterhalter, Motion carried.
The Veterans of Foriegn Wars building permit application was discussed at length
with several comments foom the floor. Motionby Robert Roehl to grant the V F W
a building permit, second by =''4 }�' `'` r, motion faildd for lack of
majority, Vote as follows, Roehl and Winterhalter, Yes, Scott and Arens, No,
Gertz abstained.
The Wright Hennepin Coop Electric Co franchise was read, opion of Attorney Hedlund
regarding franchise was read, and recommended passage. Motion by Herb Arens to
adopt franchise as read, second by Harold Winterhalter, motion carried.
Motion by Herb Arens to appoint F J Eckes civel defense director, second by
Harold Winterhalter, motion carried.
Copy of Letter which was sent to Charles Steinke was read, also opioion of Attorney
Hedlund which stated that the building inspector could sign a complaint before a
Justice of the Peace aiii1X unless he complied with the regulations of his permit
and posted the bond, he also stated that if this was not enforced the council was
setting a dangerous precedent. This matter was tabled until next regular meeting.
Building permit application for dakedale telephone company was turned over to the
building inspector.
The problem of snow on the sidewalks in Hamel was discussed, the clerk will check
the Ordinances for possible violations.
Mr Chas Tuttle appeared with a claim for damages to sweet corn when road was
repaired by the F J Eckes property, OM Motion by Arthur Gertz to table this
matter until next council meeting, Second by Harold Winterhalter, motion carried.
Motion by Harold Winterhalter to return the check in the amount of $250.00 held
by the village to Rochie Begin, second by Arthur Gertz, motion carried.
Mayor Scoot submitted the names of Wmlliam Botnam and Albert Winterhalter for
appointment to the planning commission, Motion by Arthur Gertz to appoint Willdiam
Botnam and Albert Winterhalter to the planning commissionA Second by Herb Arnes,
motion carried. (for a terra of 3 yearxs)
Mayor Scott reported that street signs could by instalbed for $18.00 each, aXXXX
111XXX4XXXMOS if the village installed them the cost would by $10.00 plus posts and
labor. Motion by Arthur Gertz to postpone the question until next council meeting
second by Harold Winterhalter, motion carried.
Mayor Scoot read a resolution regarding soliciting of funds by the policy officers,
Motion by Harold Winterhalter to adopt resolution as read, second by Herb Arens,
motion carried.
Motion by Herb Arens to donate $25.00 to the Hennepin County Agricultural League,
second by Arthur Gertz, motion carried.
Motion by Herb Arens to pay the $200.00 assessment to the Hennepin County League
of Municipalities, for league executive secretary, second byArthur Gertz, motion
carried.
Building permit application for remodeling former Lloyd Robinson house was referred
back to the building inspector for further study.
Mayor Scott reported that he had recieved a number of complaints about the intersection
in Hamel at depot street, the Chamber of Commerce will by asked for comment on the
matter.
Motion by H Winterhalter to gajourn, second by H Arens, Motion carred.
