April 5, 1976
A Special. Called Meeting of Savannah Beach City Council
was held this evening at eight p.m. following the General
Municipal Election for the purpose of receiving the Certified
Election Returns of the Savannah Beach General Municipal Election
held today from the Election Board of Chatham County who acted
as Municipal Superintendent for this Election; and to adopt the
necessary Resolution so that official notation thereof of these
results may be made in the records in the City of Savannah Beach.
The meeting was resided over by Mayor M. J. Counihan and
a quorum consisting of the following Councilmen were present:
J. M. Agnew, Jim Bond, Bob Davenport, Richard DeLoach, Edward
Fahey and John Wylly. City Attorney William H. Pinson, Jr.
was also present.
Also present at this meeting were the following members of
the Election Board of Chatham County: Gordon B. Smith, Chairman,
Shelby Myrick, Dan Wright, Jr., Marie Brazzel,Joseph J. Tribble,
Mary Humbert, Supervisor, and Jeanne Trapani, Supervisor.
Following the opening, the Mayor called upon the Clerk to
state the purpose of this Special Meeting. Following which
Mr. Gordon B. Smith, Chairman of the Chatham County Board of
Elections, to read the Certified Results of the Election.
CERTIFIED ELECTION RETURNS
In addition to the votes shown on the certification,
Chairman Smith announced that Mr. Al Williams received a total
of 53 write -in votes for Councilman and one each write -in votes
were received by the following for Mayor: Bob Williams, W. A.
Hendrix, R. C. Stark, Henry Glisson, Danny Carpenter and
Al Williams.
The Clerk stated that it was now necessary that official
notation of these Certified Results be made a part of the
records of the City of Savannah Beach stating this could be
accomplished by the adoption of the following Resolution which
he read:

Following the reading of this Resolution a motion was made
by Councilman Joe Agnew and seconded by Councilman Bob Davenport
that this Resolution be adopted. It was unanimously carried.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned
to the next regular or special called meeting.

TO THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEN OF
SAVANNAH BEACH, TYBEE ISLAND,
CHATHAM COUNTY, GEORGIA:
We, the undersigned, who were duly appointed as Election
Superintendent and as Managers of the General Election for Mayor
and Councilmen of the City of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, by
Resolutions adopted by the Mayor and Councilmen at Regular Meetings
at Savannah Beach City Council on January 12, 1976 and February 16,
1976, and who have conducted said General Election held on April 5,
1976, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter and applicable
Acts incorporating the City of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and in
accordance with the provisions of the Georgia Municipal Election
Code and the laws of the State of Georgia applicable thereto,
do hereby certify that said General Election was held on April 5,
1976, in accordance with such laws, and that the following candidates
received the number of votes set forth opposite their names for
said offices in such election:

Councilmen of said City of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island.

A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Election Superintendents and Managers duly
named by a Resolution passed by the Mayor and Councilmen of the
City of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in council duly assembled
at Regular Council Meetings held on January 12, 1976 and February
16, 1976, to conduct the election just concluded and held on
the 5th day of April, 1976, at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island,
Georgia, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and six Council-
men to hold office until the first Monday in July, 1978, or until
their successors have been duly elected and qualified, have made
the consolidated returns and results of such election by Resolution
to the Mayor and Councilmen calling said election, which return
consolidation was done in the presence and together with the
Election Superintendents and several managers; and
WHEREAS, it appears that M. J. Counihan
received the highest number of votes for the office of Mayor of
the City of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island; and
WHEREAS,
Fred de Borde , Edward J. Fahey
Robbie Kent William C. Fleetwood
Karen.Losey , and Jerome W. Bettencourt
received the highest number of votes for councilmen of the City
of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen
of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in council duly assembled and
it is hereby resolved by the authority of the same, that the
results of said election be, and the same are hereby declared
as electing:

which said returns are hereby adopted by the Mayor and Councilmen
of the City of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and officially made
a part of this resolution and the Minutes of said Council meeting.
