HomeMy Public PortalAbout051-1986 - ORDINANCE REGULATING CATSAMENDED ORDINANCE NO. 51-1986 AN ORDINANCE REGULATING CATS NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiand as follows: It shall be unlawful for any person in the City of Richmond to have possession or custody of any cat without having it under control and/or confined to his premises at all times; provided, that the provisions of this section shall not apply to possession or custody of any cat less than four (4) months of age, when proof of age can be and on request is submitted to Police Office; and It shall be unlawful for any person to refuse to show or exhibit, at any reasonable time, any cat in his possession or custody to any licensed Inspector, Police Office, or Health Official of the City of Richmond or Wayne County; and It shall be unlawful for any person in the City of Richmond to possess, harbor, shelter or keep more than three (3) adult cats, excepting veterinary hospitals and pet shops, properly licensed by the City. For the purpose of this Ordinance, an adult cat shall be deemed to be any cat six (6) months old or older. It shall also be unlawful to maintain any cat or cats so as to create a nuisance by way of noise, odor or otherwise, and Any Police officer or other person, designated by the City, is authorized to impound any cat found running at large within the City. PENALTIES. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined in an amount not exceeding Fifty Dollars ($50.00). Each day such violation is committed or permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such hereunder. ORDINANCES REPEALED. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
