HomeMy Public PortalAbout20140923budgetmeeting1 CITY COUNCIL BUDGET COMMITTEE – SEPTEMBER 23, 2014 CALL TO ORDER The Council Budget Committee of September 23, 2014, was convened at 5:30 P.M. by Councilman Ralph Bray, Finance Committee Chairman. ROLL CALL The following Budget Committee Members were present for the roll call: Present: Branch, Bray, Costales, Graham, Henry, Hussey, Mihalevich, Prather, Scrivner, and Ward Absent: None A quorum was declared present. STAFF / DEPARTMENT BUDGET PRESENTATIONS PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT: Public Works Director Matt Morasch presented the Public Works budget which included Transit, Engineering, Operations and Wastewater, each a division within Public Works. Mr. Morasch answered several questions the Council had regarding each division’s budget. Motion #1 Councilman Scrivner made a motion, seconded by Councilman Hussey, to place the following Wastewater division items onto the parking lot: 1. the cost of sewer replacement in the Woodward subdivision at the amount of $120,000; 2. the cost of pump replacement at the pump station in Westview Heights at the amount of $20,000; 3. the cost of Sharron Drive pump station elimination at the amount of $350,000; 4. the cost of replacement blowers at the treatment plant at the amount of $670,000; 5. the cost of jetter truck replacement at the amount of $250,000; 2 CITY COUNCIL BUDGET COMMITTEE – SEPTEMBER 23, 2014 6. the cost of security lighting replacement at the wastewater plant at the amount of $9,000. The motion was approved unanimously by the following roll-call vote: Aye: Branch, Bray, Costales, Graham, Henry, Hussey, Mihalevich, Prather, Scrivner, and Ward Nay: None Motion #2 A motion was made by Councilman Scrivner, seconded by Councilman Hussey, to place funding for a global navigation satellite system for the Engineering division at a cost of $18,900 onto the parking lot. The motion was approved un animously by the following roll-call vote: Aye: Branch, Bray, Costales, Graham, Henry, Hussey, Mihalevich, Prather, Scrivner, and Ward Nay: None Next Budget Committee Meeting: Chairman Bray announced that at the next meeting of the Committee scheduled for Thursday, September 25, the Committee will hear presentations made by Planning and Protective Services, Administration, Finance and ITS. ADJOURNMENT A motion for adjournment was made by Councilman Ken Hussey, seconded by Councilman Carlos Graham, and approved unanimously at 7:00 P.M.
