Approval of Agenda The agenda was approved as printed. Approval of Minutes Chair Meyers asked for any changes to the minutes as printed. Without objection the minutes were approved as printed. Council Issues Councilman Henry was unable to attend the meeting, but sent Jayme a status update per the following: City Budget: The budget process is in the works. The City Administrator should be sending it onto Council in September. McClung Park: Councilman Henry wanted to ensure that everybody was aware of the Historic City of Jefferson’s Summer Social in the Park on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at McClung Park to celebrate the Moreau Drive Historic District. Abandoned Buildings: Steve Veile of Historic City of Jefferson spoke to the Council regarding the abandoned buildings within the City. Clark Ave & Moreau Dr: Sidewalk improvements are in process. Jayme added that funding provided by the Community Development Block Grant. Public Transit Advisory Committee: The City is in process of forming a Public Transit Advisory Committee. If interested in serving on the committee contact Councilman Henry. HPC Business Ed Meyers appointed Jane Moore and Doug Record to be on the nomination committee. Ed asked for a list of expiring terms in December 2014. It appears that two seats may come available: Artie Langston and Mark Schreiber. Demolition Applications 206 W Elm St: The Commissioners viewed recent pictures of the property and surrounding area. The property owner, who was in attendance, explained that the property will be removed as part of an overall redevelopment plan. Mr. Hemphill moved that the application be approved. Mr. Record seconded. Motion passed. 229 W McCarty St: The Commissioners viewed recent pictures of the property and surrounding area. Housing Authority has recently acquired the property and is currently on the abandoned building registry. Mr. Hemphill moved that the application be approved. Mr. Case seconded. Motion passed. Old Business The Commission reviewed a letter sent by Department of Natural Resources, State Historic Preservation Office regarding the 700-702 W Main Street National Register Listing Nomination. The property was officially listed in June 2014. New Business 304 E High St Mural Permit Application: The Cultural Arts Commission has submitted a Mural Permit Application for 304 E High St. The Commission decided to table the review of the application pending further direction from the Director of Planning and Protective Services. Other Business Ms. Abbott presented a power point regarding what she learned during her trip to Philadelphia Pennsylvania for the National Association Preservation Commission. Ms. Abbott had received a scholarship from Historic Preservation Funds to attend the bi-annual conference. Dates to Remember a. Next Meeting is September 9, 2014; b. Heritage Council Meeting, August 15, 2014; c. Summary Social in Park, McClung Park, August 17, 2014; d. Preservation Trades Hands on Workshop, Columbia, September 4-6, 2014; and e. Missouri Preservation Conference, Excelsior Springs, October 6 – 8, 2014. Adjournment Mr. Case moved adjournment. Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion. Motion passed.
