AN ORDINANCE REDUCING WATER RATES AND
AMENDING ORDINANCE 1995 -12
APPROVING WATER RATES AND CHARGES
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle, by Ordinance 1995 -12, An Ordinance Approving
a new schedule of water rates and charges (An Ordinance Amending Ordinance 1995 -8)
approved new water rates and charges to more accurately reflect the costs of water services;
and
WHEREAS, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission by its approval of the
Simulation on Amended Tariff in cause # 40101 on December 21, 1995, approved a reduction
in water rates in the amount of 2.66% to reflect the true -up agreement as set out in the
Commission's Order dated July 19, 1995.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle that the enumerated water rates and charges as set forth in Chapter 715 of the
Greencastle City Codes be amended to read as follows:

0 715 -35. Tap -In Charges and Reconnect Charges
(a) The following fees shall be paid to the Department of Waterworks to cover the
cost of installing new services:

Larger meter sizes
* The charge for a tap larger than the 2 inch meter shall be the cost of labor,
materials, power machinery, transportation and overhead incurred for installing
the tap, but shall be no less than the charge for a 2 inch meter tap.
(b) If the water main from which a service is being made is located in the street
pavement, additional charges for special backfill and pavement repair shall be
• made. If the main being tapped is located in a state highway, additional charges
shall be made to cover state highway cut permit fees, which are estimated to be
forty dollars ($40).
(c) The reconnection charge shall be $20 per occurrence.
When the service is turned off for non - payment of bill, or whenever for
any reason beyond the control of the waterworks a re- establishment of service
is required by any one customer, this charge will be made by the waterworks
to cover the cost of discontinuance and re- establishment of service. The charge,
together with any arrears due the waterworks, shall be paid by the customer
before service will be re- established.
This Ordinance shall have full force and effect upon passage of the Greencastle
Common Council and its approval by the Mayor for all water service tendered after February
1, 1996.
