AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING CITY OFFICIALS TO OBTAIN MEMBERSHIP IN STATE AND
NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS OF A CIVIC, EDUCATIONAL OR GOVERNMENTAL NATURE WHICH HAVE
AS THEIR PURPOSE THE BETTERMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTAL
OPERATIONS
WHEREAS, former Indiana Code, I.C. 18-5-7-1 authorized the appropriation of
funds to provide membership in certain state and national associations,
WHEREAS, due to the codification of Indiana Code, Title 36, it is necessary to
continue such authorization in the form of an ordinance,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Wayne County, Indiana that:
The Common Council is hereby authorized to appropriate necessary funds to
provide membership of the city and its officers in state and national
associations of a civic, educational or governmental nature which have as their
purpose the betterment and improvement of municipal governmental operations.
The City and its officers are also authorized to participate through duly
designated representatives in the meetings and activities of such associations,
and the common council is authorized to appropriate necessary funds to defray
the expenses of such representatives in connection therewith.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
