I am writing in reference to your article in the Star News seeking "two civic -minded
individuals to fill open seats on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee." I think I
am just that person you might be looking for and I am interested in providing my services
to the City of McCall.
I hold a bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho in Recreation (1989), with an
emphasis in Outdoor Recreation. I also hold a bachelor's degree in Elementary
Education (1994), also from the University of Idaho. I volunteered as a Girl Scout leader
for six years, while my children were young, and worked for three months teaching
canoeing and backpacking skills at a resident Girl Scout Camp in Coeur d'Alene. I was
also the Director of the Palouse Area Day Camp for the Moscow -Pullman area's week-
long Girl Scout Day Camp. At A. B. McDonald Elementary School, I taught first grade
for four years, and then sixth grade for another four years, all in Moscow, Idaho. I have
since resigned my position at Moscow School District, and since June, I am a permanent
resident of McCall.
As far as my personal recreational activities, I am an avid runner, and I love to snowshoe,
down hill ski, mountain bike, backpack, hike, mountain climb, canoe, and swim.
