THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY 12, 2007
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M.,
Thursday, July 12, 2007, in the Community Room at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street,
Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members Dian Lawson and Mary Jo Flood. Also
attending was Assistant City Attorney Kenyatta Cox.
The following business was conducted:
CALL TO ORDER
Lawson called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that two board members and legal
counsel were present.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Lawson made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the July 5, 2007 meeting. Flood
made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed.
CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT
Lawson made a request to the board for the approval of the claims for payment in the amount of
$184,207.54. Some of the larger items were $151,180.88 paid for Workman Compensation
Policy for 2007, $5,333.00 was for the Police ads that were run for the hiring process for the
Police Department, a blanket payment to Milestone Contractors for hot mix in the amount of
$62,623.48 and a payment to Pro Lawn Care for the Hub Etchinson Parkway Project in the
amount of $51,155.00. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion
was unanimously passed.
REQUEST
A. Lawson made a request to the board that was submitted by Main Street for the
approval to close the 800 Block of East Main Street on Thursday, August 2nd from
8:00 AM to 3:00 PM for the Uptown Picnic. Flood made a motion to approve with a
second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed.
B. Lawson made a request to the board that was submitted by one of the Starr Gennett
Foundation Board of Directors Karen Chasteen for the approval to set signs for the
" Gennett Walk of Fame" at SW 2nd Street before the Main Street Bridge, Main Street
near Jail, Main Street at the east end of the bridge and Main Street between 8th and 9th
Streets. Assistant City Attorney Kenyatta Cox explained that according to City
Ordinance these types of signs would have to be considered temporary and could only

be placed 45 days prior to the event and have to be removed 7 days after the event.
Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was
unanimously passed.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously. The
meeting was adjourned.
