HomeMy Public PortalAbout19780607SCMeeting1 10 Tybee Island, Georgia June 7, 1978 A special called meeting of the Tybee Island City Council was held at City Hall on Wednesday, June 7, 1978 at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of discussing a proposed contract with the Department of Natural Resources for the construction of the 16th Street public safety /bathhouse complex. Mayor M. J. Counihan presided and the following members of Council were present: William C. Fleetwood, John J. Owen, Karen Losey, Jerome W. Bettencourt and Nick C. Alexander. Also present were the City Administrator, Danny C. Johnson and the City Attorney, Lance Smith. The City Attorney informed Council that he had studied the proposed contract and listed several points that he felt should be clarified by the Department of Natural Resources prior to the signing. He stated that the contract provided for acceptance of a grant in the amount of $125,000.00 or 50% of the cost of constructing a bathhouse, restrooms, first aid station and lifeguard station, whichever is the lesser amount. After a lengthy discussion Councilman Fleetwood moved that the Mayor be authorized to sign the contract, subject to the City Attorney's clarification of the points he had raised. Councilman Owen seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously. The Resolution read as follows: RESOLUTION There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned to the next regular or special called meeting. YO
