A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF GREENCASTLE, INDIANA SUPPORTING
AN ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAM IN INDIANA
WHEREAS, the City Council of Greencastle values using tax dollars wisely and reducing
environmental impact in our state;
WHEREAS, the City Council strongly supports the success of energy efficiency initiatives to
reduce costs and pollution to better our residents, community, and state;
WHEREAS, the Energizing Indiana Program was ended in 2014 by SEA 340;
WHEREAS, an independent administrator determined the Energizing Indiana program to be
overall cost effective, saving ratepayers $2.94 for every$1.00 invested by the program over its
two years of existence;
WHEREAS, this program created 18,679 jobs, while acquiring energy efficiency resources at a
mere $0.04 per kWh per year;
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that energy efficiency programs are beneficial, not only to
the state, but to Greencastle; and
WHEREAS, there should be legislative action towards bringing back this energy efficiency
program or developing a new state energy policy.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED that the Greencastle City Council supports the
re-implementation of a statewide energy efficiency program, similar to Energizing Indiana.
PASSED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its regular
meeting this l Z day of ApwL , 2018.
