HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 5311 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 URGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 531 AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA ENACTED PURSUANT TO ®36934 OF THE CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT CODE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 333 PROVIDING UPDATE OF BUSINESS LICENSE FEE SCHEDULES The City Council of the City of Beaumont does hereby ordain that Ordinance No. 333 shall be amended as follows: 1. Sections 8-a, 8-b, 8-c and 8-d of Ordinance No. 333 as written shall be deleted. 2. Section 8-a shall be added as follows: SECTION 8-a. The Fiscal Year for the Payment of licenses shall be from July 1 to June 30 of succeeding year. When the licenses provided by this ordinance are fixed at so much per annum, they shall be for the full year, except that new operations commencing after January 1 may obtain a half-year license. The fee shall be fifty percent (507) of the normal yearly license fee, all fees payable in advance. 3. Section 8-b shall be added as follows: SECTION 8-b. Class I, Class II, Class III, Class IV, Class V, Crass -V1 and Class VII fee schedules are adopted by reference as an integral part of this ordinance. Each class shall be certified as an integral portion of Section 8-b and may from time to time be changed by the Governing Bodies` action and certified by the City Clerk as to current fee schedules for any or all classes. 4. Section 8-c shall be added as follows: SECTION 8-c. All fees and taxes set forth herein may be amended from time to time by Resolution. 5. Section 8-d shall be added as follows: SECTION 8-d. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisi ns of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and may have bail assessed in the amount of Fifty Dollars ($50.00). Upon conviction thereof, such person shall be punishable by a fine of not more than Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) or by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period of not more than ninety (90) days, or both such fine and imprisonment. This provi- sion does not alter or replace the schedule for late payment of the Business License Tax. 6. This Ordinance is passed, adopted and enacted, pursuant to §36934 of the California Government Code as an urgency measure pursuant to the police power of the City of Beaumont. The intent of this ordinance is to protect the public health, safety and welfare through regulation of all types of operations doing busines within the City of Beaumont by creating a business license tax that reflects the cost of regulation and enforcement programs for the benefit of the citizens of Beaumont effective July 1, 1981 the beginning of Fiscal Year 1981-82. The display of name, trademark and address or phone number shall be in a shape and contrast to the background with lettering of such size and shape to be readily legible during the daylight hours at a distance of 50 feet.
