HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 5521 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 URGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 552 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA AMENDING SECTION 13 OF ORDINANCE NO. 492 AND REPEALING SAID SECTION 13 AS CONTAINED IN ORDINANCE NO. 492 IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Beaumont, California as follows: SECTION 1: Section 13 of Ordinance 492 is hereby amended as follows: SECTION 13: WILD ANIMALS AND MAMMALS, POISONOUS SNAKES AND OTHER REPTILES. Any non-domestic animal which is wild and potentially dangerous in its natural state and as defined in Section 2116 of the Fish and Game Code of the State of California, shall not be kept or maintained within the City without complying with the following: 1. Such person desiring to keep or maintain a wild animal, poisonous snake or reptile shall first obtain a permit from the State of California pursuant to Section 2150 of the Fish and Game Code of the State of California and shall meet any and all conditions required by said permit. 2. In addition thereto, the City Council shall require the possessor of a poisonous snake, other reptiles, or wild animals to carry public liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 in which the City of Beaumont shall be made an additional insured. 3. Said wild animal, snake or reptile may be transported through the City if it is confined in such a manner as to pose no threat, injury or harm to persons in this City. Said animal must at all times be properly caged or tethered. In addition said per- son shall comply with all requirements as set forth in the Fish and Game Code of the State of California. SECTION II: The City Council does hereby determine that this Ordinance is for the immediate preservation of public health, peace and safety, in that the City Council has determined that certain persons are keeping wild animals within the City of Beaumont and Page 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 that this Ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety. This ordinance shall take effect as provided by law. INTRODUCED AND PASSED UPON FIRST READING this 9th day of August, 1982, upon the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen May, Shaw, Hammel, Lowry. NOES: Mayor Thompson. ABSTAIN: None. ABSENT: None.
