AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA AMENDING ORDINANCE 361
TO PROHIBIT VEHICLES FROM STANDING ON THE CITY
STREETS AND ALLEYS FOR MORE THAN 72 HOURS AT
A TIME
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City
of Beaumont that Ordinance 361 is amended as follows:
SECTION 1. (b) "Vehicle".
A "vehicle" is a device by which any person or pro-
perty may be propelled, moved or drawn upon a highway, excepting
a device moved exclusively by human power or used exclusively upon
stationary rails or tracks.
(c) "Street, Alley or Highway".
"Street" is a way or place of whatever nature,
publicly maintained and open to the use of the public for purposes
of vehicular travel. "Street" includes highway and alley.
"Alley" is any highway having a roadway not exceed-
ing 25 feet in width which is primarily used for access to the rear
or side entrances of abutting property; provided, that the City and
County may designate by ordinance or resolution as an "alley" any
highway having a roadway not exceeding 25 feet in width.
SECTION 2. Abandonment of Vehicles.
No person shall leave standing any vehicle des-
cribed in this section, for more than 72 hours for such vehicle
is deemed to constitute a public nuisance and eyesore.
SECTION 6. Citation or Storing of Vehicle.
The Chief of Police or any member of his Department
are to cite as a parking violation any violation of this ordinance
or cause such vehicle to be removed and stored until claimed or
disposed of in accordance with Div. 11, Chapter 10, Section 22651
(K) of the California Vehicle Code.

day of October , 1982, upon the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen May; Shaw, Hammel, Lowry and Mayor Thompson.
NOES: None.
