ORDINANCE NO. 597
AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA, ADDING CHAPTER 2.54,
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW, TO THE BEAUMONT MUNICIPAL
CODE, DESIGNATING THE CITY PLANNING DIRECTOR AS THE
ENVIRONMENTAL HEARING OFFICER
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: There is added to the Beaumont Municipal Code a
Chapter 2.54, which chapter reads as follows:
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
Section 2.54.010: The Planning Director of the City of
Beaumont is designated as the Environmental Hearing Officer.
Section 2.54.020: The Environmental Hearing Officer
shall conduct hearings on projects pursuant to all City and State
guidelines for the implementation of the California Environmental
Quality Act; shall review and consider environmental documents sub-
mitted on a project; and shall recommend approval or disapproval of
the environmental documents to the City Council for their adquacy.
SECTION 2: This ordinance is for the immediate preservation
f the public peace, health and safety.
This ordinance shall take effect as provided by law.
INTRODUCED AND PASSED UPON FIRST READING this 9th day of
April , 1984, upon the following roll call vote:

Councilmen Lowry, May, Mitchell and Mayor Pro Tem
Russo.
None.
ABSTAIN: None.
ABSENT: Mayor Thompson.
