Motion by Nielsen second by Lindaman to approve the minutes of the April meeting. All ayes, carried Motion by Van Heiden second by Van Hauen to approve the Treasurer’s report for April. All ayes, carried. Motion by Lindaman second by Van Heiden to approve the following bills for payment. Clerk to get clarification on Mid-Iowa Concrete and CIRW bills. All ayes, carried. Jennifer Nazario, Library Board, presented nominations for Library Board Directors. Mayor Fox accepted the nominations of Ron Klaasen and Geoff Tessau for Directors. Motion by Lindaman second by Van Hauen to approve the appointments of Ron Klaasen and Geoff Tessau for Library Board. All ayes, carried. Brent Port, Clappsadle Garber, discussed the housing development progress and problems caused by the damaged storm sewer. Leon Abels gave an update on the water project and problems at the sewer due to heavy rain. Motion by Van Heiden second by Van Hauen to purchase a 6”pump from Eddy Walker for the sewer. Cost to be $16,849.00. All ayes, carried. Jennifer Nazario requested information regarding excess rock on her property, repair of her yard from water project and asked about the removal of a dead tree and junk cars in her neighborhood. The City council agreed to send a letter to the homeowner requiring the removal of the tree and junk vehicles. Verle Bohlen requested that the storm sewer intake by his house be kept open in the winter. The council agreed that the intake should be kept open. Motion by Buseman second by Lindaman to reduce Roger Hippen’s water bill by 2/3. If Roger wants to have an external reader placed at the top of his well pit it will be at his expense. He is also welcome to read the meter each month and provide the reading to the City Clerk. The City will continue to read the meter quarterly according to City Code. If Roger chooses to accept the City reading schedule and has a high reading again the City will not reduce his bill. Deputy Dolleslager presented information regarding truck parking. A public hearing will be held May 27th at 7:00 p.m. to amend the FY 2008 Budget. Information was received from Dave Henning regarding the proposed changes to EMS licensing. These changes will be harmful to small city services and also reduce the services our department provides to our citizens. He requested that we as a City and Community we send letters supporting the current EMS rules. Open burning will be allowed the month of May from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Motion by Van Heiden second by Lindaman to approve building permits for Terry Aalfs and Rick Riebkes. All ayes, carried. Motion by Van Heiden second by Buseman to approve Liquor License for the Meadowbrook Golf Course. All ayes, carried. Motion to adjourn Van Heiden second by Buseman. All ayes, carried.
