REFERRING TO ~ PLANNING BOARD FOR RECOMMENDATION
A REI)EVELOPMENT PLAN FOR ~ CHROME WATERFRONT
REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT PURSUANT TO THE LOCAL
REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING LAW, N.J.S.A. 40A: 12A-1, et seq.
WHI~REAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 03-41, adopted on January 16,
2003, the Governing Body established the Chrome Waterfrom Redevelopment
District as a redevelopment area in accordance with the Local Housing and
Redevelopment Law (codified at N.J.S.A. 40A: 12-A-3. "Redevelopment Law");
and
WHEREAS, since the designation of the Chrome Waterfront
Redevelopment District, the Borough has commissioned a Redevelopment Plan
for said area which has been prepared by Schoor DePalma, and is entitled
Redevelopment Plan Chrome Waterfront Redevelopment Area Situated in the
Borough of Carteret, Middlesex County, New Jersey, dated February 2003; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the proposed Redevelopment Plan, the Borough
has analyzed the features and characteristics of the Chrome Waterfront
Redevelopment District and reached a certain determination about how it wishes
for the District to be redeveloped, in order to best further the public interest; and
WHI~REAS, the Borough now wishes to adopt the Redevelopment Plan
attached hereto as Exhibit A to address the issues set forth herein; and
WHI~REAS, Section 7 of the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law
provides that, prior to the adoption ora Redevelopment Plan, such plan is to be
referred to the Planning Board for its recommendations.
NOW, THI~REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Council
of the Borough of Carteret that the Planning Board of the Borough of Carteret is
directed to review the Redevelopment Plan attached hereto as Exhibit A and
prepare a report in conformance with Section 7(e) of the Redevelopment Law.
