A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE THE
ACCEPTANCE OF AN ART SCULPTURE DONATION FROM THE
OMBUDSMAN INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood is the occasional recipient of donations of various
items such as funds, art, etc.; and
WHEREAS, the Ombudsman International Organization would like to donate to
the. City of Lynwood, a sculpture of Robert Henning, the first African -American official
elected to the Lynwood City Council and first African -American to serve as Mayor in the
City of Lynwood.; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Henning has historical local distinction and his sculpture will honor
his years of positive and dynamic community service as a former resident, Councilman,
and community advocate. In addition to the subject art sculpture having historical value,
it promotes inspiration and encouragement in socioeconomic advancements.
WHEREAS, the permanent placement of this sculpture in the City is recommended
to be at the Henning Youth Center, located at 11409 Birch Street; however, the feasibility
of that location still needs to be further examined to ensure proper security and to
maximize its presentation.
WHEREAS, if a different location best suits the City's needs, staff will communicate
as such to the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby finds and declares
that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings
and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Lynwood does approve to accept the
donation of the Robert Henning sculpture from the Ombudsmans International
Organization.
Section 3. The City Council will provide direction to staff on the permanent
location of the sculpture.
Section 4. Authorize the Mayor to execute the Resolution for and on behalf of
the City of Lynwood.

Section 5. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon
adoption by the City Council. -
Section 6. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this City Council
Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of February, 2023.
