HomeMy Public PortalAbout8/08/1995City of Greencastle City Ball Four East Walnut Street Greencastle, Indiana 46135 Don Weaver, Clerk- Treasurer GREENCASTLE COtNLNION COUNCIL Regular Session August 8, 1995 The Greencastle Common Council met in regular session on Tuesday. august S. 1995 at Tzouanakis Intermediate School. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 pm. On the call of the roll the following members were found to be present: Councilor J. D. Calben. Councilor Charles Miles. Councilor Sue Murray. and Councilor Mike Rokicki. Also present •were Mavor Mike Harmless, City Engineer Chris Barnes and City Attornev John Zeiner. There were no Public Petitions or Comments. • At this point ( 1 7:32 pm) Councilor Tom Roach arrived. Approval of Minutes: On an ave unanimous vote, minutes of the Juiv I I th regular session were approved. Department Reports: A written report from Parks and Recreation was received, since Director Curt Cooley is on dury at the park. Mayor Harmless gave the Sewage Works report since Supervisor Charlene Nichols is unable to attend. All other monthly reports were presented in person by the Department Heads. General Business: Building Commissioner Bill Lawrence discussed the continuing problem of unsafe housing at a few locations in the city. He highlighted four typical situations: Trash nuisance at rental property; actual unsafe structures (abandoned buildings, etc.); the trailer park on S. Indiana, the 19 Berry Street situation. At this point (8:00) afire call was received: Councilor Roach and some department heads left the meeting to respond. Councilor Rokicki presented to council several additional habitual housing problems. This • brought the list to nine. Mavor Harmless commented that these nine situations "need to be taken to closure." He also noted that he had recently spoken to an official of High Point Oil and given " them two weeks to clean up their situation. Councilor Rokicki mentioned that he had recently written to Pepsi Cola regarding the �rading problem at the Indianapolis Road Pizza Hut location. Recommendations and Requests from Officers and Departments: Ordinance 1995 -15, An Amended and Restated Ordinance Authorizing the Issuance of Waterworks Revenue Bonds, Etc. (An Ordinance Amending Ordinance 1995 -I1), was presented. Mayor Harmless read it in its entirety. A motion by Councilor Murray, seconded by Councilor Calbert, was passed on First reading on an aye unanimous vote of members present. Mavor Harmless reminded members that Council of two special sessions coming up: ,august 17 at 5pm (Final Reading on Ordinance 1995 -15) and August 24th at 7:30 pm (First Reading of the 1996 Budget Ordinance). Adjournment: With no further business_ Councilor Calbert moved For adjournment and Councilor Miles seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 3 ^3 pm. Michael M. Harmless.
