Everyone else in favor to approve the minutes.
Eric's Report:
The Landscapes Unlimited contract was approved by the City of McCall Attorney.
City of McCall Council Meeting is being held on September 14t" and the following
matters regarding the golf course are rates, landscape proposal. Will also be the
public hearing for rate increases for tournaments and Pro -Am.
Eric isn't foreseeing any problems with the contract moving forward through City
Council. On Monday the architect along with David and Eric walked the course
and discussed the plan and any questions that arose. Some of the things that
were discussed were the following:
- #9 Aspen tee -box moving to the other side of the cart path to allow for
better flow of traffic.
- #6 Aspen tees, the Blue tees will be moved left and back towards the
current water station and the cart path will be moved to allow for better
flow and less congestion with #7 Birch.
- Tee boxes on both #4 and #5 Aspen will be moved further back.
- #8 Aspen — Will be trimming Willows.
- As they have a truckload of sod and ground ready they will lay product.
They will not wait until all holes are ready. This will give some sod a longer
time to grow in before Winter moves in.
Other course updates and information.
There have been some turf issues and these bigger tee boxes will help Eric's crew
be able to keep the grass in better condition.
They will be cutting holes into the tree overhangs for morning sun. This will help
keep the greens in better condition and has been done in prior years, however
the trees keep growing and those cut outs have grown in.
They did some work on 444 Cedar — mainly tree work again to help get light onto
the tees and greens. This will save energy and give better growth to struggling
greens/tees. Most of the trees will be chipped and the chips can be used for
gardens etc. However the Hawthorne branches will have to be piled and taken to
the Transfer Station as they don't chip well. Some of the pine may be logged for
future project. Eric is trying to find someone who would be willing to do that.
448 Cedar — Looking to rebuild bridge out of treated lumber. Reworking the
pathway and discussing the possibility of a walking bridge from the back tee
boxes.
445 Aspen — Shiner Creek (Not in current scope of work through Landscapes
Unlimited. — Questioning if this is drainage of part of the actual creek. Questioning
if wall is to come out and culvert in to keep water moving. It would be a lot of dirt
work and may involve the wetlands trade which is 4:1 or 5:1 set up. Eric is not at a
place where this is a high priority.
Tree work will be a priority this Fall if weather and time cooperate.
Sewer Lift Station
- The sewer lift station is currently running on one pump. The original bid to
change this out was $110,000. Eric is waiting on a Spec Sheet from
Challenger for a pump. This company will also bid. It could take a few
months to get parts and pieces for this project once bids are in.
- The claim was turned into insurance for the irrigation pump and fees
associated with Electrician, Honey Dippers, Etc.
Other Projects:
- Ramp Project — put off and will be rebid for Springtime. Last bid was 80%
higher than the first bid Eric received.
- Cart Paths — Eric is waiting to see how things play out with other projects.
$100,000 of cart pathways work for Lanscapes Unlimited. Tony suggested
that Eric look into CAT Financial as an option for funding. Eric is waiting for
things to slow down a little and then he will set up meeting with Parks and
Recreation and see what they are thinking about the Chipper.
- Fall Rates:
- Oct 15t -
- 1 pm on rates schedule.
- 4 pm on rates schedule.
David's Report:
The last big tournament was last weekend. It was a good tournament and it was a
busy tournament schedule.
Revenue is $100,000 short of budget with September and October to go. David
feels that things are trending in the right direction. He will be changing course
hours again on the 15th. They will be building October tee sheets this week.
Most of David's time is currently being spent on special orders he is currently
processing 20 plus orders a day.
Wanting to set up a meeting with select people/groups to discuss tournaments,
and the tournament schedule. He'd like to discuss what went well, changes, what
people would like to see in the future. Invites will be sent for people to attend this
meeting.
David will be presenting 5% increase of Tournaments and Pro Am at tomorrow's
City Council meeting.
There has been a few minor issues with the cart fleet but overall its been a great
investment and has improved quality of the course for season pass holders and
visitors alike.
One of the biggest challenges David has faced is the phone in the Pro Shop. It is
just so busy with people his counter staff just don't have time to answer it. Which
in turn is creating issues as people can not currently cancel tee times on the app
within a certain timeline. David will play with this in the app and make changes to
this timeline so people can cancel without having to try and call. He is trying to
find a solution for this, but isn't sure what that looks like at this time.
Nicole will be coming up with IGA staff to remeasure and do slope/rating for Birch
Course. They are asking that Handicap Chairs also go through the walkthrough.
Questions that came up where for auditing handicaps and having a Q and A with
Nicole/IGA when they come up to McCall.
