AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
CALIFORNIA, REPEALING SECTION 17.60.005 OF THE BEAUMONT
MUNICIPAL CODE AND ADDING TO THE BEAUMONT MUNICIPAL CODE
SECTION 17.60.005, ADVERTISING REGULATIONS - INTENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Section 17.60.005 of the Municipal Code of
the City of Beaumont is hereby repealed.

Section 17.60.005 is added to read as
17.60.005 Advertising regulations - intent. For the
purpose of promoting the public safety, health, welfare and
convenience and enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the City of
Beaumont, the requirements of this Chapter 17.60 have been adopted
and the following general principles shall govern its application:
A. All outdoor advertising displays and on site
advertising structures and signs in the incorporated area of the
City of Beaumont shall conform to the applicable provisions of
this Chapter.
B. If any specific zoning classification contained
within this Title shall impose more stringent requirements than
are set forth in this Chapter, the more stringent provisions shall
be required.
C. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Title
17, any person owning or otherwise legally controlling the use of
a sign may allocate a sign area otherwise authorized by this Title
17 to a non-commercial message.
SECTION 3: The City Council, in adopting this
Ordinance, finds it to be declaratory of existing law and practice
within the City.
