AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE
ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE WITH
REGARD TO THE REGULATION OF ESTABLISHMENTS
WHICH SELL ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont has, on November 13, 1995,
established pursuant to Business and Professions Code Sections 23958 and 23958.4 procedures for
regulating establishments which serve or sell alcoholic beverages; and
WHEREAS, the procedures established for regulating such establishments predicate minor
amendments to the Zoning Ordinance sections of the Municipal Code, specifically the provisions
relating to the C -N (Commercial Neighborhood Center), C -G (Commercial General) and C -HS
(Commercial Highway Service) Zones; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Municipal Code amendments set forth herein are
necessary in order to comply with the State Business and Professions Code and to protect the health,
safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Beaumont.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Section 17.40.210 of the Municipal Code, Conditional Permit Uses (C -N Zone),
is hereby amended by adding the following:
-8.) Any retail establishment which sells alcoholic beverages for off-site consumption shall
be subject to the approval of a Conditional Use Permit in accordance with Section
17.70.020 of this ordinance.
Section 2: Section 17.40.315 of the Municipal Code, Conditional Permit Uses (C -G Zone),
is hereby amended by adding the following:
4. Any retail establishment which sells alcoholic beverages for off-site consumption.
Section 3: Section 17.40.505-2, Item No. 5, of the Municipal Code, Plot Plan Uses (C -HS
Zone), is hereby amended to read as follows:
5. Restaurants, drive-in restaurants;

Section 4: Section 17.40.510 of the Municipal Code, Conditional Permit Uses (C -HS Zone),
is hereby amended by adding the following:
3. Bars, cocktail lounges, entertainment facilities (including, but not limited to dancing clubs,
night clubs, roller and ice skating rinks, live performing theaters and movie theaters) and
any retail establishment which sells alcoholic beverages for off-site consumption.
ADOPTED this 11th day of December, 1995 by the following vote:
AYES: Mayor Leja, Mayor Pro Tem Parrott, Councilmembers Berg
and Brey.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
