A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE RELEASE OF A REQUEST FOR
PROPOSALS FOR THE SANITARY SEWER MAINTENANCE
SERVICES
WHEREAS, the City's wastewater collection system is managed by the City
of Lynwood Public Works Department Utility Division; and
WHEREAS, the wastewater collection system consists of about BO miles of
gravity sewer pipe, 1,800 manholes, 30 inverted siphons and about 10,000 sewer
lateral connections; and
WHEREAS, it is important that the City's sewer system is properly operated,
maintained and managed to reduce frequency and severity of sanitary sewer
overflows and their potential impacts on the public health, safety and on the
environment; and
WHEREAS, the City has increased potable water responsibilities and has a
reduction in staffing in the Public Works Department, Utility Division; and
WHEREAS, to keep pace with the sewer cleaning to avoid Sanitary Sewer
Overflows (SSO's), staff recommends that the City Council authorize the issuance
of a Request for Proposals (RFP) to obtain services of a qualified contractor to do
the work.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby finds and
declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them
herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. That the City Council authorizes staff to release a Request for
Proposals (RFP) for the City of Lynwood annual sewer maintenance services to
include sewer cleaning of the one-half of entire sewer pipelines and manholes each
year, CCTV one-fourth of the sewer system each year, review and report of five
manholes integrity, and respond up to five (5) emergency Sanitary Sewer
Overflows (SSO) per year.
Section 3. Authorize the Mayor to execute the Resolution for and on
behalf of the City of Lynwood.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately
upon adoption by the City Council.
Section 5. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this City
Council Resolution.
