A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 WITH SENIORS AND JUNIORS
INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $16,472.25 FOR THE IMPROVEMENTS OF
LOS ANGELES COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT STATION 148.
WHEREAS, On August 21, 2022, the city received three proposals for various
improvement work at Los Angeles County Fire Station 147 and Fire Station 148. Seniors
and Juniors, Inc. was the lowest bid at $233,300, this bid included all around wall and fence
for the Fire Station 147 and ceiling improvements at Fire Station 148.; and
WHEREAS, On December 14, 2022 the city entered an agreement with Seniors
and Juniors Inc. and began undergoing a ceiling renovation at Fire Department Station
148.
WHEREAS, the contractor came across unforeseen conditions in the ceiling post
demolition that will require a new structure design resulting in a Change Order.
WHEREAS, the new total project cost including contingency, inspection, project
management, labor compliance and other costs will be $69,000; and
WHEREAS, per Lynwood Municipal Code section 6-3.7(b)(2), purchases
between $50,001 and $200,000 shall be by an informal bid process and must be
approved by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, to move forward with this Project, appropriation is needed.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby approves Contract
Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $16,472.25 and additional $3,527.75 for future
potential change order to Seniors and Juniors Inc. and authorizes the City Manager to
sign the Contract Change Order.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Lynwood authorizes the City Manager
under LMC 6-3.7(b)(2) to approve the requested change order and to authorize the City
Manager to proceed with the construction work with (S&J) to complete the ceiling
renovation at Fire Station 148.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and
hereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
