Members Present: Harvey Ferrell, Sam Adams, Kate Burns, Alan Robertson, Jimmy Burke, Cathy Lewis, Joe Richardson, Paul Wolff, Mimi Pinner, Cathy Sakas, Frank Wooldridge and Mark Padgett
Visitors/Ex-Officios Present: Dr. Shawn Gillen, City Manager and Wanda Doyle.
CALL TO ORDER: Cathy Sakas called the special meeting to order at 12:05PM.
Dr. Gillen on the upcoming beach re-nourishment. He sated the bid opening was held and there is only $4.8M in the budget. The Corp of Engineers is in need of additional monies for
$138,064. The is asking the Beach Task Force for a motion to go forward to City Council for approval. Paul Wolff made a motion to authorize moving forward with the expenditure of
$138,064 for the upcoming beach re-nourishment. Jimmy Burke seconded. Vote was unanimous to approve.
Dr. Gillen stated they might be additional monies from the State, which could be used for the next re-nourishment. Ms. Sakas called for a motion to prioritize the locations for the
upcoming re-nourishment. Alan Robertson made to a motion that (1) 19th Street; (2) 2nd and 3rd Streets; and (3) Gullick areas be deemed as the priority area for sand. Paul Wolff seconded.
Vote was unanimous to approve.
Mark Padgett recommended it there is additional funding from the State, sand be used for dune restoration.
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
