HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 782ORDINANCE NO. 782 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 574, ENACTING AN ALARM SYSTEM MONITORING FEE. WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont (the "City") previously adopted Ordinance No. 574 which added Chapter 8.36 to the City Municipal Code entitled Alarm System Monitoring Fee Ordinance of the City of Beaumont; WHEREAS, technology has improved and the cost for alarm subscribers to contract with alarm companies for monitoring has decreased. .Monitoring by the police department is no longer necessary. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Chapter 8.36 of the Beaumont Municipal Code which reads as follows be repealed in its entirety: "Section 8.36.010 REQUIRED. Every individual alarm system connected into the police department and monitored by the police department shall pay to the City a monthly service fee of ten dollars. Section 8.36.020 PAYMENT. Payment of the fee in Section 8.36.010 shall be made by the alarm company who owns and services the alarm board which is the terminus for the alarm system for individual businesses and/or homes, upon demand billing from the City." Section 2. Effective Date This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption. Section 3. Posting The City Clerk shall cause this Ordinance to be published and/or posted within fifteen days after its adoption. Section 4. The findings and determinations herein shall be final and conclusive. This Ordinance shall take effect as provided by law. MOVED, PASSED, AND ADOPTED this ATTEST: CITY CLE 14th day of July , 1998.
