AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING CHAPTERS 15.04, 15.12, 15.16, 15.17 AND 15.20
OF THE BEAUMONT MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
THE ADOPTION OF UNIFORM CODES AND STANDARDS
FOR BUILDINGS AND CONSTRUCTION
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont, in administering construction activities in the City
employs the codes and standards published by the International Conference of Building Officials,
International Conference of Plumbing Officials, International Association of Mechanical Officials,
Western Fire Chief's Association and the National Fire Prevention Association, upon the adoption
of said standards by the California Building Standards Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont periodically is required to update its Municipal Code to
reflect the latest published editions of the Uniform Building Code, Uniform Electrical Code, Uniform
Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code and Uniform Fire Code when said codes are updated by
the International Conference of Building Officials, International Conference of Plumbing Officials,
International Association of Mechanical Officials, Western Fire Chief's Association and the National
Fire Prevention Association as said codes are adopted by the California Building Standards
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont anticipates continuing to employ the latest published
codes of the International Conference of Building Officials, International Conference of Plumbing
Officials, International Association of Mechanical Officials, Western Fire Chief's Association and the
National Fire Prevention Association, as they are adopted by the California Building Standards
Commission; and
WHEREAS, this ordinance will eliminate the need to amend the Municipal Code simply to
adopt and employ the latest codes published by the International Conference of Building Officials,
International Conference of Plumbing Officials, International Association of Mechanical Officials,
Western Fire Chief's Association and the National Fire Prevention Association, by referencing the
latest available versions as adopted by the California Building Standards Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Municipal Code Sections 15.04.010, 15.12.010, 15.16.010, 15.17.010.11 and
15.20.010.A are hereby repealed.
SECTION 2: Municipal Code Sections 15.04.010, 15.12.010, 15.16.010, 15.17.010.B and
15.20.010.A are hereby added to the Beaumont Municipal Code to read as follows:

15.04.010 Adoption of Uniform Codes
Certain documents, three copies of which are on file in the Office of the City Clerk and the City, being
marked and designated as the latest published editions of the Uniform Building Code, as amended in
Section 15.04.020, Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, Uniform Fire Code and
Uniform Housing Code, and the Uniform Building Code Standards published by the International
Conference of Building Officials, are adopted as the Code for the City for regulating the erection,
construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, demolition, conversion, occupancy,
equipment, use, height, area and maintenance of all buildings or structures in the City providing for
the issuance ofpermits and collection of fees therefor; and each and all of the regulations, provisions,
conditions and terms of such Building Code, latest available edition, and Uniform Building Code
Standards, latest edition adopted by the California Building Standards Commission, published by the
International Conference ofBuilding Officials, on file in the Office of the City are referred to, adopted
and made a part of this Chapter as if fully set out in this Chapter.
Section 15.12.010 National Electrical Code Adopted
The National Electrical Code, latest published edition, as published by the National Fire Protection
Association, is adopted as the City Electrical Code and was is of this Chapter by reference, three
copies of which are on file for the use and examination by the public in the Office of the City Clerk,
with the additions set out in this Chapter.
Section 15.16.010 Adoption of Uniform Code
A. The International Conference of Plumbing Officials Uniform Plumbing Code, latest published
edition adopted by the California Building Standards Commission, is adopted as the Uniform
Plumbing Code of the City, providing for the protection of the public health and safety,
requiring a permit and inspection for the installation, alteration or repair of plumbing and
drainage systems and the inspection therefor.
Section 15.17.010 Adoption of Uniform Code
B. Each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of such
International Association of Mechanical Officials Uniform Mechanical Code, latest published
edition adopted by the California Building Standards Commission, are referred to, adopted
and made a part of this Chapter, as though fully set forth set forth in this Chapter.

Section 15.20.010 Adoption of Uniform Code
A. The International Conference of Building Officials and the Western Fire Chief's Association,
Uniform Fire Code, latest published edition as adopted by the California Building Standards
Commission, and Riverside County Fire Protection Ordinance No. 546 are adopted as the fire
code of the City, providing regulations consistent with nationally recognized standard
practice, safeguarding life, health, property and public welfare and to a reasonable degree the
hazards of fire and explosion arising from the storage, use and handling of dangerous and
hazardous materials, substances and devices, the operation, installation, construction,
locations safeguarding and maintenance of adequate means of egress
