Finance Committee
May 23, 2001
1.The meeting was called to order by Finance Committee Chairman Larry Vincent at 6:00
P.M. Those in attendance were as follows:

2.Chairman Vincent opened the discussion by referring to a handout provided by Ms.
Strope. These documents addressed Health Insurance coverage provided by the State and
the City and contrasted the amount of employee coverage and subsidy coverage.
3.Chairman Vincent asked Ms. Strope to review the Salary Comparison Survey sent to us
by the City of Hutchinson, Kansas. Salary comparisons were discussed as well as benefit
comparisons. An additional document discussed referred to the Retirement Plan
Contributions by the City including the contribution rate for both general employees as
well as for the Police. This document showed the cost savings associated with a
declining city contribution rate for both classes, general and police.
4.Chairman Vincent announced that additional meetings will be held prior to the Finance
Committee beginning sub-committee meetings in early August.
5.There was no other business to discuss.
6.Councilman Olsen made a notion to adjourn and was seconded by Councilman Viessman.
The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 6:30 P.M.
